PAN-Metrics Seminar

We would like to invite you to a new international conference:
PAN-Metrics Seminar on Novel Measurement Problems in Social Sciences: Response Styles, Careless Responding, Measurement Invariance, Log-Data, and Technology-Based Measurement
Date: May 15-17, 2024
Place: Warsaw, Poland
Conference Topics

This conference addresses measurement issues in the broadly defined field of social sciences, with particular emphasis on sociology, psychology, and educational sciences.
The primary topics to be discussed at the conference include, but are not limited to:

  1. Measurement distortions such as response biases, including response styles, inattentive responding, and social desirability responding.
  2. The collection, processing, and utilisation of process data (log-data) and other paradata to enhance measurement accuracy in social sciences.
  3. Technological innovations in measurement, encompassing the use of computers, machine learning methods, and large language models (commonly referred to as “artificial intelligence”), along with their implications for measurement development.
  4. Statistical modelling of latent variables (new response models, measurement invariance, etc.).
  5. Additional measurement and modelling challenges in social sciences, covering psychometric, statistical, and methodological concerns.
  6. These issues will be explored in the context of both cognitive tasks (e.g., tests) and non-cognitive tasks (surveys and questionnaires), with a special focus on technological aspects – namely, measurement processes mediated by new technologies such as computers, smartphones, and online research methodologies.

The tentative list of invited speakers is to include:
