Empowerment, Opportunity, Necessity: Immigrant Entrepreneurship in a Globalized World

Immigrant entrepreneurship, including ethnic entrepreneurship, is an increasingly important topic in migration studies and minority studies. It concerns the adaptation of immigrants in the labour market, a key aspect of immigrants’ adjustment to life in their new place of residence. The topic has become particularly important in the face of recent crises, such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine: entrepreneurship can be seen as both an opportunity and a challenge in times of economic and political turmoil. We invite submissions on immigrant entrepreneurship in times of crises and in times of economic prosperity.
The conference aim is to bring together representatives of various disciplines of the broader social sciences: we are interested in the research perspective of sociology, economics, management, political science, psychology, history and other fields. We are interested in papers presenting theoretical considerations and results of empirical research. We invite authors who conduct qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research, studies of media discourses, policies, and legal frameworks of business. We are interested in immigrant entrepreneurship in Europe and other parts of the world.
