Back to the familialist future: the rise of social policy for ruling populist radical right parties in Italy and Poland

ABSTRACT
The rise of populism in Europe has been associated mostly with cultural issues, but there is increasing attention to the socio-economic causes and the socio-economic effects. Drawing on research carried out in the UK, in Italy, and in Poland, the seminar will discuss how populism tries to fill the void left by the decline of intermediary associations and to what extent, when it comes to power, it involves a change of direction compared to previous social and employment policies.
