This is a special moment that we look forward to enjoying together – we celebrate GSSR’s 30^th anniversary! GSSR was created in 1992 at IFiS PAN and, as of 2019, functions as a doctoral school of IFiS PAN, ISP PAN and IP PAN.

We mark GSSR at 30 years with an event that recognizes our community of alumni, students, faculty, and staff, and that engages with the issues of our times in the international conference, “Urgent Issues of Europe: Interdisciplinary, Inter-sectoral, and International Viewpoints.” The program of the GSSR30 event is attached. The ceremony opens on October 6 at 10:00 in Sala Lustrzana of the Staszic Palace. We begin with the Inaugural Session and the Keynote Lecture delivered by Adam Bodnar, former Polish Ombudsman for Citizen Rights (2015 – 2021) and current Professor at SWPS University’s Faculty of Law.

The Conference, “Urgent Issues of Europe: Interdisciplinary, Inter-sectoral, and International Viewpoints,” brings together GSSR alumni, faculty, PhD students from GSSR, and other guests. Academics in the social sciences and humanities connect with professionals from governmental, non-governmental, and business organizations, to debate urgent social, economic, and political issues of Poland and Europe. A series of special workshops for PhD students that prominently feature GSSR alumni demonstrate the practical advantages of an inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary approach.
